WILL- Girl & Deer by JNESS

After a very good run with Illustration Friday (weekly prompt), I decided to take on yet another illustration challenge. This one is a monthly prompt, and has a great community of artists, it's called WILLOWING.NING.COM. This month's challenge is to illustrate a "little girl and a deer" in keeping with the holiday season.

My take on it features a little girl from the inner city, cautiously making friends with a deer who wanders into the concrete jungle. I know it's not likely, but after adding some holiday magic, here it is. Let me know what you think.

IF: SAVOUR by JNESS

This week's word was SAVOUR, I reached for the first thing that came to mind... Fast food. The food item that calls me back no matter how deeply I thread into the world of good eating and Weight Watcher's victories of days gone by. So my etchings reflect the moments before surrender, savouring the last glimpse before the first bite.

SKETCHBOOK 2011: 3 DAYS LATER by JNESS

Originally intended for use on illustrationfriday.com as my entry for AFTERWARDS I decided to submit something else and dedicate a little more time in completing this piece. It's called, "THREE DAYS LATER" I'm pleased with the results.

I am nearing the completion of my SKETCHBOOK 2011pages from left to right, soon I begin the journey of the back pages from right to left (back to the front).

See when I color a page the ink soaks all the way through, so I end up with negative pages that I can't draw on, so I will be illustrating and pasting art behind the pages that are done, making sure that people who see my book while it TOURS, don't get short changed, and experience my work on every page.

Thank you for sticking with me as I work on getting better, and delivering art that is worthy of your visit.

IF: RACE by JNESS

This was one of those "life gets in the way" weeks, I just refused to not show up for "Illustration friday" this week, inspite of the challenges I faced. So here is a rough concept (above) from this previous commission. (below)

The RACE sketch was one of the runner-ups for the art that would appear in the painting behind the guy sitting on the bed in this book cover for Sharon D. Moore. Sharon had me create two illustrations for this cover, as you remember the one she chose is featured in this blog post ... Six of One Half A Dozen of Another

Thank you for stopping by. As always HUGELY appreciated! Comments are welcomed.

IF/ SKETCHBOOK 2010: SPOOKY by JNESS

Hopefully this reads as "Spooky" sometimes my attempts to creep the viewer recieve a review of "cute". I wanted to show a torrmented soul surrounded by his tormentors. I tried to show graphic impact and movement.

Any thoughts?

Grafitti Sketch

Every now and then you have to go back, way back... just some sketching. More to come...
